thread lifting
Thread lift is a cosmetic procedure that uses specialized medical threads to lift sagging facial features. The threads are inserted under the skin to improve puffiness in the cheeks, face line, and under the chin, giving a refreshed appearance. The inserted threads have protrusions called “cogs” that hook into the subcutaneous tissue, resulting in a tightening and lifting effect.
This procedure is characterized by quick results and little downtime. Since makeup can be applied the next day, this procedure is gaining popularity among busy people who can easily undergo it. It is also expected to tighten facial lines, improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and produce a small face and beautiful skin. This lift-up treatment is recommended for those who want to achieve a clean, youthful look.
Effects of Thread Lift

Thread lift is a cosmetic procedure for lifting sagging facial lines, cheeks, and under the chin, with immediate results. It does not involve incisions and has minimal downtime, making it easy for anyone to regain a youthful appearance. First, let us introduce the various effects that a thread lift can bring.
1. Improvement and prevention of sagging
Lifts and improves sagging lines, corners of the mouth, and face lines. The thread lift can directly lift even the lines and corners of the mouth, which are difficult to reach with a facelift that involves incisions.
In addition, regular thread lifts promote the growth of collagen fibers that support the skin, making the face less likely to sag in the future. This procedure is also expected to have a long-term preventive effect.
2. Small face effect
By lifting sagging facial contours, it creates a natural, smaller face effect. By improving the sagging face line, the overall contour of the face is sharpened and excess fat under the chin and double chin become less noticeable. As a result, the face looks more refreshed and gives the appearance of a smaller face.
3. Improved Skin Firmness
The medical threads used in a thread lift are inserted into the skin, which provides natural stimulation. This stimulation promotes collagen production and improves skin elasticity and firmness. Collagen is an important component of skin elasticity, and increased production of collagen reduces the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin and helps maintain youthful skin.
4.Improvement of pores and fine lines
Thread lift is a special thread inserted into the skin that stimulates collagen and elastin production from within. As a result, skin elasticity is improved, pores are less noticeable, and fine lines and wrinkles are reduced. In particular, it is easy to notice the effect on fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, which tend to become more noticeable with age, and the texture of the skin becomes smoother.
Downtime, Risks, and Side Effects

Thread lift is a popular procedure that improves sagging facial lines in a short time and gives a more youthful appearance, but it may involve some downtime and side effects after the procedure. Before undergoing the procedure, it is important to understand the side effects and downtime and to feel comfortable with the treatment.
- 1.Swelling
-
Immediately after the procedure, there will be swelling due to the effects of anesthesia and the insertion of the thread. Swelling peaks immediately after the procedure, settles down in 2-3 days, and about 90% of the swelling subsides in 1 week. The anesthesia has a significant impact on the swelling, which varies from person to person, but it will often become less noticeable within a few days.
- 2.Internal bleeding
-
Internal bleeding may be seen, but it is usually small and settles within 1-2 weeks. If internal bleeding does occur, it can be concealed with makeup and will subside spontaneously.
- 3.Pain
-
After anesthesia, you will feel little to no pain, but you may feel a slight zinging pain in the area where the thread was inserted for a few days to a week after the procedure. This pain will mostly disappear after about a week. If painkillers are prescribed, take them as needed.
- 4.Skin irritation and slippery feeling
-
After a thread lift procedure, symptoms such as tightness and sagging of the skin and difficulty in opening the mouth wide may temporarily appear as the face is lifted. These symptoms are a reflection of the lifting effect of the threads, and will usually adjust naturally in about one week. Over time, the skin will adjust flexibly to facial movements and regain its original sensation, so there is no need to be overly concerned.
- 5.Discomfort, indentation at puncture site
-
After the thread lift procedure, you may feel discomfort for a while. You may also notice a dimpling, indentation, or mild pigmentation at the thread insertion site. These symptoms usually resolve spontaneously within a few days to a few weeks.
- 6.left-lateral difference
-
Because the human face is not perfectly symmetrical by nature, slight left-right differences may be seen after a thread lift procedure. These left-right differences are due to the natural shape of the face and usually improve with time. Although swelling after the procedure and temporary imbalance may occur during the lifting process, within a few days to a few weeks the facial expression and skin condition will stabilize and the left-right difference will become less noticeable.
Treatment Flow
We offer thread lift treatments tailored to the needs of each individual patient. We will carefully support you at each step of the procedure so that you can undergo the procedure with peace of mind. Here is an introduction to the procedure flow at our clinic.
STEP1Counseling
First, a consultation is conducted by a specialized physician. We will listen to the patient’s concerns and wishes, and propose the most appropriate treatment method. We will check the condition of your face and make a plan according to the area you want to lift and your goals.

STEP2Preparation before treatment
Before the thread lift procedure, the face is first cleansed and the area to be treated is cleaned. This minimizes the risk of infection.
If necessary, local anesthesia is administered to minimize pain during the procedure. The anesthesia allows the patient to relax and reduces the discomfort of the procedure. Once you are ready, the doctor will begin the procedure.
STEP3Insertion of the thread
Using local anesthesia, a medical thread is inserted into the face using a small needle. The thread has protrusions called “cogs” that hook into the deeper layers of skin and produce a lifting effect. The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes to one hour.
STEP4Confirmation after the procedure
After the threads are inserted, the doctor will check the lifting effect. Immediately after the procedure, you will often see an immediate improvement in the lift and shape of the face. The doctor will check the lifting of the face line, cheeks, and lower jawline to ensure that the lifting is firm, and will make fine adjustments as necessary. At this stage, we can confirm that the effect of the procedure is sure and support you to proceed with post-treatment care with peace of mind.
STEP5Aftercare
Swelling and internal bleeding may occur after the procedure, but these usually settle down within a few days. The doctor will give you aftercare instructions and use painkillers and cooling pads as needed. You may lead your life as usual, but you may be instructed to avoid excessive massage.
STEP6Follow-up observation
After the procedure, swelling and internal bleeding will subside within a few days to a week, and the lifting effect will gradually take hold. After a few weeks, the clinic will check the progress again, and adjustments or additional treatments may be suggested if necessary.
