What is Botox injection?

Botox is botulinum toxin type A (a natural protein) extracted from the bacterium botulinum. When injected, it acts on tense muscles by suppressing the secretion of neurotransmitters.
Botox injections are a treatment in which the neurotoxin (botulinum toxin) produced by the botulinum bacteria is injected to inhibit muscle contraction.
Botox injections are effective in reducing excessive muscle contraction of the facial muscles that cause expression lines and wrinkles, and in making vertical lines between the eyebrows, horizontal lines on the forehead, and wrinkles at the corners of the eyes less noticeable. It is also used to correct small facial features, improve gills, and treat stiff shoulders.
We use safe Botox Vista Botulax

Our clinic uses a botulinum drug developed by Allergan, Inc. It has been approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and is used by many medical institutions. The active ingredient is botulinum toxin type A, which is produced by botulinum bacteria.
When injected directly into the target muscle, it is expected to relax the muscle and weaken its function. When injected, it is effective in relaxing facial muscles, correcting small facial features, and improving gills.
Botulax” by Hugel of Korea is also available.
Botulax is approved by the Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA).
Botulax is a generic version of Botox Vista and is therefore less expensive than Botox Vista.
Effects of Botox Injections
Although individual differences exist, Botox injections can be expected to have the following effects.
- Improvement of expression wrinkles
- Facial reduction
- Improvement of gummy smile
- Improvement of skin texture
- Relief of symptoms of stiff shoulders, back pain, clenched teeth, and clenching
- Improvement of hyperhidrosis
Botox injection works by weakening excessive muscle activity. The effect depends on the area to be injected.
Botox injections are a procedure that requires the skill and experience of the physician. By adjusting the amount and location of the injections, side effects such as facial tightness and poor eye contact can be prevented.
Features of our Botox injections

- No scarring
- No pain, no swelling
- Little to no downtime
- Short treatment time
Botox injections can be effective as early as one week after the procedure. Once Botox is injected, the injected muscles will begin to fall off and become naturally thin as early as 3 to 4 days. After that, the effect will appear in as little as one to three weeks (*individual differences exist).
The muscles in the injected area will begin to return to normal as the effect gradually wears off. However, 30-40% of the time, the effect is semi-permanent. Therefore, a total of 4 to 5 treatments every 2 to 4 months may be required to achieve a state of almost no return to the original state.
Who is recommended to have Botox injections
Botox injections are recommended for the following people
- Want to reduce gills
- Want to refresh facial lines
- Want to prevent wrinkles in the future
- Want to manage a gummy smile
- Want to lift the corners of the mouth
- Concerned about a lumpy nose

Botox injections are also effective for improving gills
The gill muscles affect the contour of the face when viewed from the front. The more prominent the gills are, the larger and staggering the face appears.
There are several treatment options for improving gills, including gill shaving and contouring of the jaw (jaw) and cheekbones. However, in most cases, overdevelopment of the gill muscles is the cause. Therefore, Botox injections are expected to be sufficient for improvement.
When Botox is injected directly into the gills, it relaxes the muscles and is effective in reducing gill muscle. After one to three weeks, the gills will be less noticeable and the effect can be felt.
Characteristics of people with strong gills
- If your gills protrude when you clench your teeth
- If you grind your teeth
- If you like hard foods
- If your dentist has told you that your teeth are scraped
- If you have a habit of chewing gum
The above tend to have well-developed gills and can expect considerable benefits.
Botox injections are effective in correcting small facial features.
Botox injections have the property of weakening muscle function. This allows certain facial muscles, such as the temple muscles, to relax, thereby reducing muscle overdevelopment.
Overdevelopment of the temple muscles causes the face to appear wider and more square. Botox injections can reduce the size of the muscles, cleanse the facial lines, and produce a small facial effect.
Botox injections are also effective in improving a gummy smile.
A gummy smile is a condition in which the gums are excessively visible when smiling. This is caused by overdevelopment of the muscles that lift the upper lip. Botox injections can be used to control the overdevelopment of the muscles, preventing the upper lip from being lifted more than necessary and reducing the exposure of the gums.
Botox injections can also be used to raise the corners of the mouth.
One of the most common causes of a downturn in the corners of the mouth is the over-activity of the submucosa muscle. When this muscle contracts strongly, the corners of the mouth are pulled back, giving the impression of being lowered. Botox injections can be used to weaken this muscle and create a state in which the corners of the mouth rise naturally.
Botox injections can also be effective in improving the appearance of a dumpling nose.
A dumpling nose is a rounded, inflated tip of the nose. This is caused by excessive muscle movement around the nasal wing cartilage. Botox injections can be used to reduce muscle movement, thereby reducing the spreading of the nasal tip and giving it a cleaner shape.
About our Botox injections
Thorough pain management
A high concentration of surface anesthesia is applied to the area where you want the muscles to relax (the area where the Botox is injected). We wait a certain amount of time for the Botox to take effect, so those who are anxious about pain can receive Botox with peace of mind.
We use an ultra fine needle to reduce pain. You will feel less pain when the needle is inserted.
For those who are anxious about pain from surface anesthesia alone, we also offer relaxing anesthetics such as cream anesthesia and laughing anesthesia. Cream anesthesia is applied to the skin and provides local analgesia. Laughing gas anesthesia is a medical gas that is inhaled through the nose or mouth to produce an anesthetic effect. Since strong pain cannot be controlled, local anesthesia may be used in combination with the procedure.
Anesthesia is often used by those who are undergoing the procedure for the first time or those who are highly anxious. Since the procedure is short, it is not necessary to use anesthesia.
Downtime for Botox Injection
There is not much noticeable downtime for the procedure. However, depending on the individual, the following symptoms may occur.
Possible side effects of Botox injections include the following
- Redness
- Swelling
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Internal bleeding
Redness at the treatment site is a temporary symptom and will fade over the course of the day. The redness of the treated area is a temporary symptom that will fade over the course of the day. Please be assured that the other symptoms will also lessen over time. You may experience a tightness sensation on the day of treatment.
Our doctors will provide a thorough medical examination and follow-up care, if necessary. If you have any concerns or worries, please feel free to contact us.
Pain after Botox injection treatment
Most people do not experience pain after Botox injection treatment. However, there are individual differences, and you may feel pain for a few days. If you are concerned about pain, please do not hold back and consult your doctor.
How to Spend Time After Botox Injection Treatment
As a precaution for how to spend time after the procedure, avoid warming up activities such as facial massage, hot baths, saunas, alcohol consumption, and strenuous exercise for a few days. This is because botulinum toxin itself is toxic.
Also, do not massage the area around the treatment site for one week after the procedure, as massage may cause the injected drug to infiltrate the surrounding muscles. Facial washing, bathing, makeup, hair washing, and showering can be done on the same day.
Flow of Botox Injection Procedure
The following is the flow of Botox injection procedure at our clinic.
STEP1Questionnaire and medical examination
During the counseling, we will confirm whether the cause of the gills is due to the skeletal structure or the muscles.
If you are pregnant, nursing, or unable to use contraception for 2 to 3 months after the procedure, please consult us in advance.
STEP2Anesthesia
We take thorough measures to prevent pain. Surface anesthesia will be administered before the procedure, and after allowing time for the anesthesia to take effect, we will begin the procedure.
For those who are sensitive to pain or anxious for the first time, relaxing gas anesthesia is also available. Please feel free to consult us.
STEP3Botox injection treatment
We will check the position of the muscles and inject Botox. This is a simple procedure that takes only a few minutes.
*Please note that the treatment time varies from person to person, so please consider it as a rough guide only.
