nipple reduction
Nipple and areola reduction
Nipple reduction is a procedure to adjust the size and shape of the nipple and areola. The nipple and areola can be reduced to the desired size, and nipples that are misshapen or have a large difference between the left and right nipple and areola can be made into a balanced and beautiful shape.
The nipple contains numerous milk ducts and blood vessels, and when a potential breastfeeding mother undergoes nipple and areola reduction surgery, care must be taken not to impair the breastfeeding function.
Our nipple and areola reduction surgery is performed in a way that preserves the milk ducts, so it is possible to breastfeed after the surgery. In addition, our nipple and areola reduction surgery is performed with scarring that is barely noticeable and is designed to be visually pleasing.
For whom nipple and areola reduction surgery is recommended
- Those who are born with long or large nipples and areolas
- Those whose nipples and areolas have grown in shape after breastfeeding or due to age-related changes
- Those who feel that their nipples and areolas are disproportionate to their breast shape
- Those who experience discomfort due to friction with clothing
- Men whose nipples show up when they wear T-shirts
Types of Nipple and Nipple Reduction Surgery
Excess skin and tissue of the nipple and areola are removed and sutured so that scars are not visible. The procedure takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour and is virtually painless.
Height reduction procedure
The length of the stretched nipple is shortened by horizontally excising the area near the base of the nipple and suturing it along the base. Breast-feeding is possible after the surgery because a method that preserves the milk ducts is used. The postoperative scar assimilates with the nipple and areola and is barely noticeable.

Diameter reduction procedure
Excess skin is removed from the sides of the thickened nipple in a fan shape to reduce its width. Breast-feeding is possible after the surgery because a method that preserves the milk ducts is used. The postoperative scar assimilates with the nipple and areola and is barely noticeable.

Procedure to reduce the size of the nipple
A circular excision is made inside the nipple and the nipple is adjusted to the desired size. The base of the nipple and the inside of the areola are sutured so that the postoperative scar will not be noticeable. It is also possible to adjust the balance if there is a difference in size between the left and right sides. Postoperative breastfeeding is completely safe.

Flow of nipple and areola reduction
The following is an explanation of the nipple and areola reduction process.
STEP1Preliminary Counseling
First, we will ask you about your history of childbirth and breastfeeding, as well as your future plans for pregnancy and breastfeeding. The doctor will ask you about the size and shape of your nipples and areola, and carefully explain the procedure, results, and risks. If you have any concerns or questions about the procedure, please do not hesitate to ask.

STEP2Design and Anesthesia
The design is marked according to your request and local anesthesia is applied. The anesthesia is less painful than normal anesthesia because of the use of an ultra-thin injection needle.
STEP3Treatment
The procedure takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. The treatment site is closed with fine stitches to make it inconspicuous.
STEP4Postoperative Care
Cover the wound with gauze or tape to protect it. We will explain in detail about postoperative care.
STEP5Cooling
After the surgery, we will ask you to go home after a short period of rest.
STEP6Aftercare
Please come to the clinic 1 week to 10 days after the surgery to remove the stitches.
