Silicon implant breast augmentation

This is a procedure in which silicone implant are inserted under the breast tissue to increase the volume of the breasts. There are a variety of bag sizes, shapes, and softnesses available, allowing each patient to achieve their ideal breasts.
The best insertion position, such as under the pectoralis major muscle or under the mammary gland, is suggested according to the patient’s physique and desires. The main feature of this treatment is that once the patient has undergone the procedure, they can maintain their beautiful breasts for a long period of time.
Recommended for
Silicon implant breast augmentation is recommended for the following people
- Those who wish to increase their breast size by 2 cups or more.
- Those who wish to have long-lasting breast augmentation.
- Those who have thin skin or little fat.

Features

Here are some of the features of silicone implant breast augmentation.
Highly effective breast volume enhancement
Silicon implant breast augmentation is one of the most effective methods for those who wish to achieve a significant breast enhancement. It is possible to increase the size of the breasts by two cups or more, which is difficult to achieve with fat injections, and to obtain the ideal firmness and cleavage. The shape and size of silicone implant vary widely, and it is attractive to be able to choose the one that best suits your body shape and desires.
Long-lasting effects
In recent years, silicone implant technology has improved and the durability of silicone implant has increased dramatically. Therefore, there is almost no need to remove a silicone implant once it has been placed, unless there is a special reason.
Getting closer to a natural breast
Silicon implant breast augmentation allows you to design your ideal breasts in terms of height, width, shape, etc., as if they were custom-made. This makes it possible to achieve not only natural-looking results, but also to satisfy those who want to have breasts that are unique and attractive to them.
Insertion position of silicone implant

At our clinic, we determine the optimal silicone implant insertion position based on a comprehensive assessment of each patient’s breast shape, thickness, and desired result. We will explain in detail during the consultation which method is right for you.
Under the mammary glands
Inserting bags under the mammary glands is the most common technique. Since the procedure is performed as if volume is added to the mammary gland itself, the result is very natural to the touch, the way it sways, and even the shape of the cleavage. In addition, since the surgery is performed with little muscle damage, postoperative pain tends to be relatively low.
Under the pectoralis major muscle
The silicone implant is inserted into the space under the pectoralis major muscle. This allows enough space between the skin and the silicone implant, so the silicone implant is less noticeable in appearance and feel.
Effective volume enhancement can be expected for patients with small breast volume or with a small amount of mammary gland tissue.
Pectoralis major myofascia
Silicon implant are inserted between the pectoralis major muscle and fascia. The silicone implant is inserted between the pectoralis major muscle and fascia, and is not easily affected by muscle movement. It is especially recommended for patients with drooping breasts.
However, since the fascia must be detached, postoperative pain and swelling may be more severe and recovery time may be longer than with the submammary technique.
Dual plane
This method places silicone implant in both the pectoralis major muscle and the mammary gland. A partial incision is made in the pectoralis major muscle, and the silicone implant is inserted under the muscle at the top and under the mammary gland at the bottom.
This allows even thin people to achieve naturally rounded breasts and a beautiful décolleté line. It also reduces the risk of silicone implant displacement or deformation as in the conventional submastia method.
However, because the dual-plane technique involves a partial incision in the pectoralis major muscle, postoperative pain and swelling may occur more frequently, and the procedure time tends to be longer than with other techniques.
Our silicone implant breast augmentation uses the highest quality Motiva

We use Motiva silicone implant from Establishment Labs, Inc.
The gel is made of medical grade silicone for implants that has been approved by the U.S. FDA (an agency similar to the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare). It has been used in the medical field for many years and has passed numerous scientific tests for safety.
In addition, each production lot is subjected to strict quality control and has obtained the CE Mark, the safety standard of the European Union.
PERLE

PERLE is a silicone implant, also known as the “6th generation implant bag,” developed by GC Aesthetics in the UK. The bag, filled 100% with a proprietary cross-linked silicone gel, is extremely soft and can be inserted through small incisions.
It combines rich elasticity and durability, and many medical institutions use it in combination with Motiva.
100% gel-filled for a more natural look
Motiva bags are 100% gel-filled, making them extremely strong and flexible. The tightly packed gel prevents the bag itself from deforming and wrinkling after insertion into the breast.
Furthermore, because the gel moves in unison with the body, it changes its natural shape to conform to the body and fit in as if it were your own breast.
Motiva offers three types of bags, and the “Ergonomix” type of gel, in particular, is characterized by smooth movement and changes the shape of the breast as the body position changes, resulting in a more natural appearance.
Special surface treatment reduces the risk of side effects such as membrane contracture.
Motiva’s surface has a special treatment called “Silk Surface” that has a smooth, silk-like feel to the touch. SilkSurface is a technology developed jointly by Motiva’s development company and the National University of Manchester in the United Kingdom to ensure safety and patient comfort.
This process is uniformly applied with thin, small bumps, which increases affinity with the human body, thereby inhibiting inflammation after insertion and reducing the risk of side effects such as “membrane contracture,” a condition in which the breasts become hard and unnatural in shape.
In addition, the smooth surface reduces resistance during insertion and minimizes incisions, thus reducing the burden on the patient.
Six-layer structure ensures safety
Motiva is a silicone implant that boasts extremely high strength and durability thanks to its unique “monoblock manufacturing method. In this manufacturing method, the body and bottom of the bag are integrated into a single structure with no joints.
This ensures that the bag will not tear even when strong force is applied, and there is no risk of gel leakage in the event of an accident. In addition, the outer membrane has a six-layer structure and uses a special gel called cohesive silicone for medical use to ensure even greater safety.
350 different sizes to choose from in millimeter increments
Motiva allows you to choose the height, width, arc length, and other details as if it were custom-made. There are four types of heights (MINI, DEMI, FULL, and CORCE), widths from 8.5 cm to 15 cm in 5 mm increments, and a variety of arc lengths. By combining these, you can choose from approximately 350 different sizes to achieve your own ideal breasts.
Many slender Japanese people choose MINI or DEMI for a natural breast line, but you can achieve the most beautiful breasts according to your own wishes.
Motiva is also highly safe and durable, and is recommended for those who want both natural beauty and peace of mind.
Silicon implant Breast Augmentation vs. Fat Breast Augmentation

In Japan, there are two types of breast augmentation procedures: silicon implant augmentation and fat augmentation, each with different characteristics and advantages and disadvantages.
Silicon implant breast augmentation | Fat breast augmentation | |
---|---|---|
Procedure | Silicon implant are placed in the breasts to increase volume | Fat harvested from fat augmentation is placed in the breasts |
Shape | Insufficient in some cases because the bag is injected as it is. | Injection is done little by little, so it is easy to get the ideal shape |
Downtime | Swelling and internal bleeding, but will heal in about a month | Contracture may occur due to liposuction in other areas, about 6 months |
Scar | About 3cm-4cm | About 5mm-1cm |
Advantages |
・Once placed, size and shape will not change ・Significant size increase possible |
・Small scar, hardly noticeable ・Fine fine tuning Fine fine-tuning is possible. |
Disadvantages |
・Contraction may occur, and it may be prolonged, but most of it will heal. ・Scars are easily visible. The scar is easily noticeable. |
・Volume is almost always reduced depending on the fat retention rate. ・Lumps may form (can be removed). |
Both silicone implant augmentation and fat augmentation have their advantages and disadvantages, but in recent years hybrid breast augmentation, which combines the advantages of these two procedures, has become popular.
By using silicone implant breast augmentation to create volume and fat augmentation to firmly coat the fat to shape the breasts, the reliable volume increase of silicone implant and the natural texture of fat injections can be achieved.
Downtime and risks/side effects

Downtime, risks and side effects of silicone implant breast augmentation are explained.
- Downtime Symptoms
-
Downtime for silicone implant breast augmentation commonly includes breast swelling, swelling, pain, itching, and discomfort. These symptoms are not significantly different from other breast augmentation procedures.
However, silicone implant augmentation requires an incision to insert the bag, and the wound at the insertion site may be more painful than with fat augmentation. In particular, insertion under the pectoralis major muscle tends to be a more complicated surgery and requires longer downtime. Please be assured that our clinic will prescribe painkillers, antibiotics, and other medications as needed.
- Downtime period
-
Silicon implant breast augmentation has a slightly longer downtime than fat augmentation and usually takes from one to two months, depending on the individual. We recommend that you allow plenty of time for the surgery, as pain and swelling are particularly strong during the first week or two after surgery.
It may also take six months or more for the inserted bag to adjust to your body. During the downtime, it is important to stay in bed and follow the doctor’s instructions for aftercare.
- Capsular contracture may occur.
-
In silicone implant breast augmentation, the body considers the bag inserted into the body as a foreign body, and the body’s natural defense response is to form a capsule that surrounds the bag. This thickening and hardening of the capsule is called capsular contracture, and is said to occur in about 1 in 10 patients, possibly due to bleeding or infection during or after surgery.
To prevent capsular contracture, postoperative massage is extremely important. Regular massage will keep the capsule soft and allow the bag to move smoothly, thereby reducing the risk of contracture.
- Other Risks
-
Silicon implant breast augmentation is a great way to achieve your ideal breasts, but as with all surgical procedures, there are some risks involved.
・Rippling: the edges of the bag bend and touch or stand out as grooves or wrinkles
・Calcification: calcium deposits in the capsule that surrounds the bag, causing the breasts to become hard
・Allergic Reactions: since silicone implant are completely artificial, allergic reactions rarely occur
・Sensory Paralysis (of the breast skin, nipples and areola) Infection (if there is increased or prolonged heat, pain, swelling, or redness after surgery, infection is suspected and the bag may need to be removed and reinserted)
・Infection
・Bloating during surgeryAlthough the incidence of these risks has been greatly reduced with the development of the latest techniques and materials, it is important to fully consult with a physician and understand each risk before undergoing the procedure.
Flow of treatment
STEP1Counseling
We will conduct a thorough consultation and ask about the patient’s health, concerns, desired breast size and shape, and other details. We will propose the best treatment method for each patient according to their individual constitution and desires, and after you are satisfied with the results, we will formulate a surgical plan.
We will carefully explain the size, shape, insertion position, etc. of the silicone implant so that the patient can go through the surgery with peace of mind while sharing a concrete image of what it will look like.

STEP2Preoperative Examination
A blood test is performed in preparation for the procedure. Since general anesthesia will be administered, this is an important step to understand your health condition and to safely proceed with the procedure. We will also ask you about any allergies you may have and any medications you are currently taking.
STEP3Size Measurement and Photography
Before the procedure, we will accurately measure your breast size and take pre-operative photographs to share with you the image you will have after the procedure. The doctor will mark the area where the silicone implant will be inserted, and the patient and doctor will check the area together to ensure that the ideal result is achieved.
STEP4Anesthesia administration and treatment
Intravenous anesthesia is administered to help you relax. Rest assured that the procedure will be completed while you are asleep and you will not feel any pain. During the surgery, a small incision will be made in a pre-determined area, such as under the armpit or under the breast, to carefully create space for the silicone implant to be inserted.
The silicone implant is then inserted, a thin tube (drain) is inserted to prevent bleeding, and a pressure bandage is applied to complete the procedure. The procedure takes approximately one hour.
STEP5Recovery in the recovery room – Going home
After the procedure, you will rest in the recovery room and go home when your condition is stabilized. Swelling, pain, and internal bleeding may occur for a while after the surgery, but will usually improve within a few weeks.
Since intravenous anesthesia is used in the procedure, there may be residual effects of the anesthesia. For safety reasons, please refrain from driving on the day of the procedure and use public transportation.
STEP6Aftercare
After the procedure, you will be asked to wear a mammo band to protect your breasts. Mammo bands play a very important role in stabilizing the position of the implants after silicone implant augmentation surgery.
Especially during the first week immediately after the procedure, the mammo band is necessary to secure the implants as they have not yet settled in place and are prone to movement. Correct use of the Mammo Band will prevent implant migration and maintain the ideal breast shape.
We ask that you continue to use the MammoBand until the stitches are removed one week later. For one month after the stitches are removed, please wear a soft bra without wires.
How to spend time after surgery

The following is an explanation of how to spend the postoperative period.
Touch the nipple and areola moderately to feel the sensation.
Many people may be hesitant to touch the nipple and areola after surgery, but this is a misconception. Although the procedure may temporarily dull the sensation, we recommend that you touch them gently on a regular basis for rehabilitation. Touching allows you to see if the sensation has returned and allows you to return to your natural state more quickly.
However, avoid rubbing too hard or touching in a way that causes pain, and check gently.

Moderate massage after one week.
n the past, it was common practice to rest and not touch the affected area after silicone implant breast augmentation surgery. This was because it was believed that massage could cause implant migration, internal bleeding, or inflammation. However, recent studies have shown that gentle massage, beginning one week after surgery, can reduce the risk of a hardening of the breasts, called capsular contracture.
While I would urge you to refrain from vigorous massaging, you should use gentle, slow massage, following your doctor’s instructions on how to massage your breasts.

Sleep in proper posture.
After the procedure, it is recommended to sleep on your back to minimize stress on the chest. Especially for approximately 3 months immediately after surgery, sleeping on your stomach down may put extra pressure on the implant and change its shape.
For a stable recovery, it is important to maintain proper posture, such as sleeping on your back.

Do not carry anything heavy for about a month and a half.
After the procedure, it is important to avoid as much as possible any activities that put a strain on the body as the body is in the recovery period. In particular, the act of lifting heavy objects can put pressure on the implants and increase the risk of them shifting.
To ensure a safe recovery, normal daily activities such as light housework and walking are not a problem. However, it is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise such as muscle training or heavy lifting for about a month and a half after the surgery.

Take care of your scars.
Scars after silicone implant breast augmentation surgery heal more beautifully with proper care. After surgery, it is important to use the scar care products recommended by your doctor and follow the instructions. Proper care will reduce inflammation, decrease the risk of infection, and preserve the appearance of the area.
