Case Study: Motiva Mini 250 cc Breast Augmentation | Inframammary Incision, Subglandular Placement | 3-Month Recovery2026.07.14
Case Overview
This case features a patient who underwent breast augmentation using a 250 cc Motiva Mini silicone implant.
The implant was inserted through an inframammary fold incision and placed above the pectoral muscle (subglandular placement). This page follows the patient’s recovery through 3 months after surgery.
Because the patient already had a relatively good amount of natural breast tissue and adequate skin elasticity before surgery, the implant blended well with the existing breast tissue, resulting in a soft and natural-looking outcome without obvious implant edges.
By the 3-month mark, postoperative swelling had largely resolved, the breasts had softened, and the implants had settled into a more natural position.
Procedure Details
● Implant: Motiva Mini Silicone Implant, 250 cc
● Incision: Inframammary fold incision
● Placement: Subglandular (above the pectoralis major muscle)
● Follow-up: 3 months after surgery
Is Hybrid Breast Augmentation Always Necessary?
One of the most common questions we receive is:
“Do I need fat grafting to achieve a natural-looking result?”
The answer is not necessarily.
Not every patient requires Hybrid Breast Augmentation (silicone implant combined with fat grafting).
Patients who already have sufficient breast tissue, adequate soft tissue coverage, good skin elasticity, and favorable chest anatomy may achieve an excellent and natural result with silicone implants alone.
On the other hand, patients with very thin soft tissue, minimal breast volume, or those seeking a softer upper-pole contour may benefit from combining implants with fat grafting.
The most appropriate approach depends on each individual’s anatomy rather than applying the same procedure to every patient.
The AVAN TOKYO Approach
At AVAN TOKYO, we believe that successful breast augmentation is about more than simply increasing breast size.
Before recommending surgery, we carefully evaluate:
● Existing breast tissue volume
● Soft tissue thickness
● Skin elasticity
● Chest wall anatomy
● Overall body proportions
● The patient’s aesthetic goals
Based on these findings, we determine whether silicone implants alone or Hybrid Breast Augmentation will provide the most natural and balanced result.
Our goal is to create breasts that not only look beautiful but also feel natural and harmonize with the patient’s overall body shape.
Risks and Potential Complications
Potential risks include swelling, bruising, pain, asymmetry, infection, hematoma, seroma, changes in nipple or skin sensation, scarring, capsular contracture, implant malposition, implant rotation or rupture, breast shape changes, and the possibility of revision surgery. The most appropriate surgical technique is determined individually following a comprehensive medical consultation and examination.
