For First-Time Visitors|How Joint Injection Treatment Works

Knee pain

For those new to regenerative medicine, it is natural to feel nervous or anxious about visiting a clinic. At AVAN TOKYO, we provide clear explanations regarding our treatment procedures and clinic policies to ensure that first-time visitors can attend with confidence.

At AVAN TOKYO Ginza Joint Regenerative Medicine, we treat pain in the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle and other joints by injecting stem cell culture supernatant derived from adipose stem cells into the joint. Joint examinations and injections are performed by the clinic director and a board-certified orthopedic surgeon.

What Is Regenerative Medicine?

For First-Time Visitors: What Is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine may sound complicated. The stem cell culture supernatant used in our joint injections is a liquid containing components secreted while stem cells are cultured. The cells themselves are not injected.

Stem cell culture supernatant contains cytokines, exosomes and other components. Injected into the joint, it aims to reduce inflammation and support tissue repair. Results vary from person to person.

Hyaluronic acid injections aim to lubricate the joint. Injections of stem cell culture supernatant are given for a different purpose. This is elective (self-pay) treatment, so health insurance does not apply.

AVAN TOKYO welcomes many patients with the following concerns:

Knee pain (such as knee osteoarthritis), shoulder pain (such as frozen shoulder or rotator cuff injury), elbow and wrist pain (such as tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow), and ankle or hip pain. We are consulted by people who find stairs difficult, cannot kneel, cannot raise their arm, whose pain has not changed despite hyaluronic acid injections, or who have been advised to have surgery and want to consider other options.

Initial Consultation Process

For First-Time Visitors: Initial Consultation Process

At AVAN TOKYO, we begin with a thorough consultation. We carefully inquire about your concerns, desires, current health status, lifestyle habits, and other relevant factors to propose the most appropriate treatment method.

During the consultation, we provide clear explanations of all information you wish to know, including treatment content, expected effects, risks and side effects, costs, and post-treatment lifestyle considerations. Please feel free to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have.

Our clinic does not engage in aggressive solicitation. Furthermore, there is no need to make a treatment decision on the spot. We believe that allowing patients to consider carefully and receive treatment only after being fully convinced leads to favorable outcomes.

Ensuring Your Peace of Mind During Treatment

For First-Time Visitors: Ensuring Your Peace of Mind During Treatment

What AVAN TOKYO values most is the trust relationship with our patients. When we determine from a medical perspective that a treatment is not appropriate, we will not recommend it unnecessarily. Our mission is to provide sincere medical care with the patient’s health and safety as our foremost priority.

No treatment is entirely without risk. For this reason, we wish to provide patients with accurate information and realistic expectations, ensuring they receive treatment only after being fully convinced. During pre-treatment consultations, we dedicate sufficient time to respond carefully not only to your desires but also to your anxieties and questions.

Regarding Costs

Treatment costs will be explained in detail during the initial consultation. When there is a possibility of additional costs arising, we inform patients in advance, striving to ensure that treatment is received with full understanding and consent.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding costs, please feel free to inquire. We employ a transparent fee structure, allowing you to consider treatment with confidence.
