Full-Circumference Upper Arm Liposuction + Bi-Needle | Female, 26 | 6 Months Post-Op2026.09.10
This is a case of a 26-year-old woman. She came to us saying that she was self-conscious about her upper arms and always chose clothes with sleeves. On examination, subcutaneous fat was thick not only on the back of the upper arm (the so-called “bat wing” area) but also across the front and up into the shoulder, so the whole upper arm looked rounded when her arms were down.
Because treating only the back of the arm tends to leave a visible step where it meets the front and the shoulder, we proposed full-circumference upper arm liposuction covering the back, front and shoulder. To address the skin laxity that can become noticeable once fat is removed, four Bi-Needle passes were added to the bat wing area.
Surgery was performed under intravenous anaesthesia (propofol) combined with nitrous oxide and sevoflurane, with the patient asleep. After infiltrating 800 ml of tumescent solution, cannulas were introduced through six small incisions in total (anterior axilla, elbow and posterior axilla on both sides) and the full circumference was suctioned while checking the balance between layers. The volume removed was 300 ml and the operation took 45 minutes.
After surgery she wore a compression garment for the upper arm, continuing until the swelling and oedema settled. With liposuction, swelling generally peaks in the first one to two weeks, after which the firmness and tightness caused by tissue contraction ease over several weeks to several months.
The photographs show the result at six months after surgery. The line of the upper arm is straighter when the arms are down, and the transition from shoulder to elbow looks natural. Please note that the way swelling and firmness resolve, as well as the final result, vary from person to person.
