We would like to introduce a case of liposuction covering the abdomen, waist, thighs, calves, and ankles performed on a woman in her 20s. She had previously undergone liposuction at another clinic several years earlier, and this time she requested revision/additional liposuction at our clinic. The photos show the surgical marking just before the procedure and the compression garment worn after surgery.

Areas that have already undergone liposuction can develop adhesions and fibrosis in the subcutaneous tissue, which makes suctioning more difficult than a first-time procedure and tends to cause more swelling and bruising. For this reason, we carefully assessed the fat thickness, skin condition, and degree of existing adhesion in each area during marking, and performed liposuction separately across the abdomen, waist, thighs, calves, and ankles.

In this procedure, approximately 3,000cc of pure fat was removed. The larger the volume removed, the longer the downtime tends to last, and the patient herself described this as “the toughest of all the cosmetic procedures I’ve had.”

Even at 3 months after surgery, some firmness from contracture (a temporary hardening of the tissue) remains in part of the treated area, and it is expected to take a bit more time for the skin and subcutaneous tissue to fully settle. Revision cases are more difficult to assess than first-time liposuction, and the degree of swelling, bruising, and firmness varies significantly between individuals.

Results and recovery time vary from person to person, and for revision or additional procedures in areas that have previously undergone liposuction, it is especially important to carefully assess the tissue condition beforehand. If you are considering revision or additional liposuction, please consult our doctor during an examination and counseling session.
